Power of Prayer
The Power of Prayer – What is its real power? The power of prayer should not be underestimated. James 5:16-17 says, “The fervent prayer of the righteous has great effect. Elijah was a man of the same nature as us, he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. » It is a fact, that God listens to prayers, he takes them into account and changes things in response to them. Jesus taught this: “I tell you the truth, if you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mountain, move hence, and it would move; nothing would be impossible for you. »
Matthew 17:20 and 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 tell us: “For the weapons with which we fight are not carnal; but they are powerful, by the virtue of God, to overthrow fortresses. We cast down reasoning and every lofty thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and we bring captive every thought to the obedience of Christ. » The Bible exhorts us: “Make all prayers and supplications in the Spirit at all times. See to this with all perseverance, and pray for all the saints. » (Ephesians 6:18)
How can we use it? The power of prayer does not depend on the person praying, but it is God who has the power when we pray to him. 1 John 5:14-15 says: “We have this confidence with him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us, something that we asked, we know that we have the thing that we asked of him. » God answers the prayers addressed to him in accordance with his will. His answers are not always yes, but it is always for our own good. When our desires are in accordance with his will, we will eventually realize it.
When we pray passionately with a specific purpose, in accordance with his will, God responds powerfully! We do not access the power of prayer by using “magic formulas” and the answer to our prayers does not depend on our eloquence. We don’t have to use certain words or phrases for God to answer our prayers. In fact, Jesus rebukes those who pray insistently by repeating themselves. “In praying, do not multiply vain words, like the pagans, who imagine that by dint of words they will be heard. Don’t be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. » (Matthew 6:7-8).
